Anker Rebrand

Packaging
Branding
Motion
A full packaging and identity system for Anker electronics, one of the leading charging technology brands in the lower segment of the market. Despite being the most trusted brand for quality of product, Anker lacks an identity that stands out amongst competition and greatly lacks in the commonly desired practices of sustainability. This packaging system focuses on functionality and resuability, along with a strong emphasis on an expressive and engaging aesthetic that elevates the brand presence as unique and exciting.

Identity System

I developed a logo and brand elements inspired by circuitry symbols to move away from the overused symbol of a lightning bolt for electronics or charging.

Packaging Lineup

The packaging system is made for continued use, doubling as a protective silicone travel case for the product. The use of excessive paper instructions is eliminated with the QR code for an AR unboxing experience.

The two halves of the packging snap together and the sticker labels on the side provide extra security when in transit/shipping before opening.

The form of the body is modeled after the form of an inflated wire seamlessly coiled upon itself.

Graphic Application

I used my graphic elements to highlight the unique specifications of each product, and I chose to use a solid graphic depiction of the product on the front over the commonly used style of simple line art, which I still included on the inside depictions.

Digital Renderings

Product Displays

I applied the unique form of a coiled wire to the product display screen in order to display the product information animations.

I also applied the graphic elements to the space of the tradeshow display.

AR Unboxing

Eliminates any need for excessive paper-based product instructions or manuals.

Digital Media

I carried over my identity system to the mobile and desktop layouts of the website.

Packaging Reveal

Using the models I created in Cinema 4D, I created a 3D packaging reveal animation.

Process

I further expanded my experience with modeling, 3D-printing and producing everything for the prototypes from home using my Anycubic Photon Mono X 6K S 3D-printer, this time gaining experience printing with flexible resin and hollow forms, requiring me to ensure my models in Cinema 4D were optimized and air-tight with drainage holes.

I sourced webbing and a grommet kit to create the fabric hang tags and I printed my labels at home on my inkjet printer and hand-cut the labels and applied them using repositionable spray mount to be able to remove and reapply them as needed when demonstrating the function of the prototypes.

I sourced spray paint exactly matching to my pantone color choice for the body of the packaging and hand-painted the forms myself.

I also conducted many rounds of logo development to settle on the final identity and develop the system.

I used x-particles in Cinema 4D for the reveal animation to fill in the shell of the model of my packaging forms I created in order to visually express how the form is inspired by a wire coiled upon itself, and show how the packaging is produced from liquid silicone.
