MultiCube
Motion
Cinema 4D
A short 3D animation I created based on the concept of following a basic cube bouncing through a series of parallel universes. On each bounce the cube enters a different dimension where everything is made of a different type of material. This animation is inspired by the many instances of travelling through the multiverse/different dimensions in various animated or photo-realistic movies and shows, such as the movie Doctor Strange for example.
Process
From this project I learned much about proper Cinema 4D file structure and execution.
I set up the simple motion animation of a basic cube bouncing, in a structure to be able to easily go in and edit the materials, lighting and texture, along with minor adjustments to the motion to change this base animation track to whatever type of world I was trying to represent. I learned how to use the node editor to execute the visual affect of different worlds comprised of a vast array of materials.
I also used compositing effects in After Effects to aid the visual style of some of the worlds and used the sound design to further communicate the differences between the various dimensions.
