Perpetual Sound

Motion
Cinema 4D
A short 3D animation I created based on a concept for a theorectical perpetual motion machine. The video highlights the different moving parts of the system then reveals the ultimate intended purpose of creating a perpetual soundscape, showing how the diversity in complex motion creates an unexpected calming sound.

Process

Inspired by a video for a perpetually rocking marble track as well as the kinetic sculpture Mobius Wave by Rueben Margolin, I designed and modeled the full perpetual system in one project and used the stage function to reveal the system through various camera shots

I used After Effects to focus on the sound design to include sound effects for all the various motion as well as the intended soundscape inspired by tibetan singing bowls
